I live in CA and went for a nightly run and happened to look down in the ditch and there was this curled up two-tone snake like a light yellow and orange. He was HUGE! I took off. LOL. What kind was that and should I be more aware of snakes at night. I thought they go sleep in hole when it gets dark.

Being that color and huge, I would suspect it is an exotic imported snake that has either gotten away, or more likely it's outgrown its owner's ability to maintain it and it was let loose, which is what's happening in Florida, where in the Everglades they now have a bounty on BURMESE PYTHONS, which can attain some 16 feet. So, yes, do watch out.

one element that really in simple terms creeps me out is being out on a deliver, interior the darkish, yet next to a huge structure (e.g. concrete pillar of a bridge). It jogs my memory of ways deep the water will be. i visit not help yet imagine sinking down next to it. there is an episode on the teach "I should not be alive" the position 2 people had to waft round interior the sea (without boat in any respect) for some days. that would easily suck.

Snakes are NOCTURNAL - Night is when they HUNT for food. Where it is COOLER. Darkness hides them from predators!
