On the Sharing tab of the properties box, change the maximum number of connections to the maximum possible.

The connection limit is actually built into win XP. The only real way round it is to upgrade to a Windows Server OS.

There isn't really a problem with a machine handling that many connections at once and even a basic modern office system will be able to cope with that. It is purely an OS limit.

The way we get around it is to use linux systems for shared space (no connection limit) and network capable printers (you pay a bit extra, but you can put them anywhere you feel like on your network and you don't need a system to run them).

We also use Windows 2000 Server with folder redirection as it makes backup of every system's desktop and my documents folder really easy.

Too many concurrent connections to your machine will rob it of memory and resources. Windows XP was not designed to work like that. The best thing to do is move the folder to a server and share it that way.

Ditto the comment about "Windows Server." You're not legally licensed to use Windows XP for serving to this many users. Did you read your End Users License Agreement? Obviously not.

I believe there is a hack that you can download from the internet from shady places that will allow additional network connections.

Beware: You'll probably find a lot of spyware out there that will come with the hack.

Another solution: Use Linux.

Get Windows Server instead.
