If you were sleeping, and in the morning you woke up to hear a cat meowing, thinking at first that you were dreaming it, but all of a sudden you notice there is actually an orange cat right in your face that doesn't live at your house/apartment?

Obviously somebody let the cat in your home. Perhaps an acquaintance let it in or you really were dreaming and weren't awake fully when you "saw" the cat in your face. Do you have a roommate or someone who lives with you? I would ask him/her and if they deny any knowledge, you know somebody is lying. A cat does not appear from nowhere any place. There has to be logic involved in how the cat got there if it really was there.

First I'd see if there are any missing cat reports that match the cat. If not and it's a kind, non-threatening (biologically, physically) cat then I'd keep it.

Do you mean a ghosty cat? I would ask it what it needed to move on. If it was a reall cat, I'd feed it then try to find its owners

Check its eyes to see if they are different colors. it may have been sent for you let it out ands follow it. Watch and see if it looks back for you as it walks away. it may be a good omen.
