A bloated, out of shape 64 year old white guy under tremendous stress with massive signs of heart disease? Why is it so hard to believe he had a heart attack? And if he 'killed himself', why now? He wasn't even going to be sentenced until mid September. He had all summer. If you believe he 'couldn't take it'.....then why is it so hard to believe he 'couldn't take it' physically?
Far richer and more influential men than Ken Lay have gone to jail, making the 'grand conspiracy' theory that he was permitted or assisting in 'faking' his death because of his wealth and influence increasingly convulted and hard to believe. And for the record, Skilling had lots of money (60 million or so), Lay is pretty much broke, with a condo as his only real property (admittedly, a 5 million dollar condo...but the government is going after it).
Finally....there's simply no evidence of suicide, homicide or a faked death. None. Just the old fashioned random speculation, conjecture, and silly rumor that form the basis of most 'conspiracies'. My favorite was the fella that demanded a 'hundred dollar' DNA test. Yeah.....that makes sense.....he masterminded a faked death with the assistance of the government at the highest levels, paying off investigators, prosecutors, guards, and coroners.....but was somehow unable to forge the results of a DNA test? C'mon. If we're going to be real conspiracy theorists, we should just go with it and assume if ken lay can fake his DEATH..he can fake a DNA test.
In reality Ken Lay is just a guy....he's not Jesus, 007, Rasputin or Machiavelli. His ticker gave out and he's now food for worms. Seems pretty simple. Why complicate it?

I find it harder to believe that this guy had a heart????
I would watch to see if he is cremated. that would be the way to prevent a dna test later after the switch clicks and people do wonder if he may have set up his fake death.
It does seem a little more than strange. I would imagine he had the power to get this done. I did notice the medical examiner looked a little stressed out the next day in his press interview. Maybe he was awake all night worried if someone would demand a dna test, or maybe he was counting the money.
Who knows. I wasn't hurt by this guy, but I think the government owes all of the victims proof of his death. Otherwise they will spend the rest of their lives wondering if he is really dead.
No I don't believe he is dead. Not until the people that we elected to protect us, do their job, and show proof otherwise. As a taxpayer, I believe we owe the victims that lost their life savings a little closure with a $100 dna test.

I don't think he's dead. What really sucks, and what no one is talking about is that now, assuming he's dead, he can't testify regarding the secret energy meetings Dick Cheney held back in the early 2000's that Ken Lay attended. Ken Lay should never have been there, and god knows Cheney will never tell the truth about what really went on there. This goes to the assumed grave with Ken Lay. What a piece of dog crap that man was and/or is.

I asked this question a few days ago, and I think it's quite possible that he worked things out with his good friends, the George Bush boys, to get out of serving jail time, and to join the witness protection program, and to keep all the money he bilked us out of!! Criminals have to stick together, you know! The ONLY way I'll believe that he's really dead, is if I see his rotting corpse!

Both... I think he is really dead and I think his heart attack was planned... this was either a poisoning or suicide.
It's unfortunate too, because he deserved his punishment... for a guy like him, being destitute is a worse punishment than death.
