What really got me to thinking about this is when I saw a documentary on Regan. It was really good showed how he helped keep us from getting nuked. but it also showed how his administration set up a secret deal with saudi arabia to trple oil production and put a economic squeeze on Russia. Now twenty years later it finally comes out. I agree it was a good reason back then but have to wonder what they are really up to now

I'd be interested to see what kind of profits the Bush family has made from the Oil business since 2000 wouldn't you?

I think a few things are at work here. One is higher global demand, China has entered an industrial era and does need the oil. Turmoil in the Middle East, whatisname in Iran threatening the shipping lanes sure didn't help much. But those things cannot be helped.

What is going on in this country is you have both Democrats and Republicans that are ambiguous to the gas prices. Democrats might talk big but the truth is they have been wanting to throw big taxes on gas for a while to force a lower usage on the environmental front, and some in the party actually think it is too cheap now and want it raised more. Then you have republican who have the oil lobby pushing them. I was surprised when I found out the government investigation on price fixing never looked at the oil companies themselves. It was on the refineries, distributors, and the pumps. Not on the companies and futures markets for manipulation.

So the two agendas we are getting caught between are the environmental and greed agenda. The bad news is I don't see relief in the near future either. I have heard one of the CEO's from Connico/Exxon flat out say he would oppose any alternative fuels and that any research into them was futile, his company would not do it. So unless something gives we are stuck with oil and two fronts that want the prices up.

Ever heard of India and China? Two little bitty countries that have grown a little in the last 5 years; and want a little more black crude stuff for themselves?

Lord knows the environutjobs won't let us develop any of our own oil resources in the United States.

The current high gas prices is because of usa gov stupid & brutal policies in the world,
the wars & the threats for other countries, the worldwide tension r the real reason .
stop the american gov brutal policies & everything will be ok.

They are trying to force us to get used to paying more so that if they lower the price to say 2.50 a gal, we think its cheap instead of being upset, like we would have 18 months ago.

Ask yourself how much the Bush family has invested in the oil and gas industry and you will find your answer.

Of course. But its not what you think. It's just the GOP and friends at the oil companies lining their pockets.
