I mean, having a healthy fear of indoctrination and ecclesiastical lobotomy is one thing, but how can one be proactive in this regard?

Ik Weet Niets!:

Someone who believes in the teachings of the church and accepts them thus believes that they have found the one and only answer to the human condition. One who only believes in something that is "under their nose" could just as well be that same individual staring down at a bible.

What point where you trying to make? because it escapes me.

colortx: thank you, you've unknowingly answered my question. the key is freedom of religion! of course. once this is repealed, religious factions will once again battle amongst themselves, and will be too preoccupied to focus on taking control of our secular government. Thanks again.

You could keep your children out of churches, and make it a point not to be involved in anything religous. But unless you can convince billions of pathetic, closed minded people that sometimes **** just happens, even to good people, and life is not fair, and bad guys DO win and good guys DO lose, and then you die and thats it, no heaven or hell or nirvana or happy hunting ground.....Unless you find a way to convince them of that, they will always beleive that they are correct, that life is fair they just dont see it, and it all balances out in the end.....Makes it much easier to live with themselves.

You mean you want to take a persons freedom of religion away? A Satanist as well as a Christian has a right to practice their beliefs.

A humanist has the right to practice his belief. An atheist has a right to his beliefs and practice it accordingly. If you take away someones right to religion, say you don't like Christians, then perhaps you would be next and whatever you believed in, someone else may find distasteful and go after you. This is still a free country last time I checked...

So be careful what you wish for....

Not much...millions of people have been trying to do exactly that for thousands of years...with little effect.

If I were in such a position, I'd try to learn why the Church has survived longer than any other institution in the history of mankind.

A common assumption made by those who despise the Church is that the majority of people are pretty stupid and/or helpless. But who's really ignorant...somebody who can admit to themself that they don't have all of the answers...or somebody who believes in something only if it's put under his nose?

I don't have an answer for any of this...do you?

We do not nor should we ever want to undermine the importance and role of the church in American life.

That being said, we need to support the secularization of church and state and continue to resist the imperatives of the Religicons out there who want this nation's government to put religion in the schools, public places, etc., etc. and it's basically one groups' religion.

When the state endorses a religion...then the freedom of and from religion is lost to the people.

Let your faith reside in your heart.

Other than the control that the fundamentalist have on our current administration, I think that the practice of a religious faith is positive. My Dad is 80 and has 4th stage lung cancer. I believe as do hid doctors who cannot believe that he has made it this long, owe it to his deep faith in Jesus Christ and the power of prayer. Arent there things of more importance that you could spend your time doing? Oh, yeah, I am a Christian and a Liberal Democrat...there are a lot of us.

I'm not a church going person, and I certainly don't believe the myth that there was a human being that 'represented' God, that we call Jesus. But why would you want to disrupt other's way of worship or believing? Live and let live.

The Holy Trinity is watching and mourns over you. Stop fighting, resisting, and denying God, for He loves you! *Run* to the church and learn how the Lord Jesus Christ will cover your sins and wash you white as new-fallen snow, as your heart is clearly very burdened.

"Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever." Learn more at http://www.ccci.org/wij/index.html ; and read/search the Bible, God's Word, at http://www.biblegateway.com/ . May God grant you His mercy and eternal peace.

Are the churches hurting you? Why would you want to? Do you have a phobia of Christians? Or just the fact that we may be right, perhaps?
