like, i don't know what to expect if i think that a ghost is near my friends and i?

Usually you just get a feeling, it feels like someone else is in the room with you, or you feel like someone is looking at you. You might have the hairs on your arm stand up, because that's a reaction to the feeling. Sometimes you smell odors associated with the person from life. Orbs of light are often associated with spirits. Sometimes you hear your own voice say something inside your head that you did not think, and it comes from "outside of you." I can wake up in the middle of the night, out of a sound sleep, because I feel a presence. It's a very scary feeling, and you can usually feel it in the pit of your stomach and in your heart. When your body hair raised up and sometime you suddenly feel so cold for no reason. Another way to tell if the person you see is a human or ghost is a ghost doesn't have shadow. So if you see a person without a shadow, sure its a ghost.

What makes you believe that anything like a ghost actually exists?
I have an open invitation to ghosts everywhere...I challange them to haunt me...I've had this challenge for 20 years and nothing...nada...yet, being agnostic, I reserve judgement...but I am leaning more towards the belief that there are no such things as ghosts.

You'll know for sure, believe me, all ghosts love to slap and pinch the butts of the living, so if you ever feel a sudden pain on your butt when nobody else is around, then a ghost got you;) LOL

There are lots of ways. Sometimes it's a sound or scent or an unexplained electrical distubance or an animal sees it or it gets really cold or you get this creepy feeling or a sudden gust of air or things moving around.
Don't freak out. Just calmly tell it it's dead and should move on. That usually takes care of it, but some just don't get it. It won't hurt you, but you can drive yourself crazy with worry if you don't watch it.
