I wondered if it was related to hormone fluctuations. I am worried about going thru menopause because I am concerned I will be overwhelmed with severe depression since I was so clinically depressed after the kids were born. I am 42 yrs old and I know menopause is probably not far off. I still have all of my plumbing. Is there anything I can do now to prevent depression during menopause or am I worrying needlessly. I have tried to talk to friends about this, but they laugh it off.

i had the same things you talk about , I'm 38 now but when i was in my middle 30's is when all that unbalanced hormones really affected me . because i had baby blues after all my children [4] and never had any kind of treatment for it and it only just got worse until it got to the point where i was severely afraid of myself because i kept feeling like i was going to kill myself at any point soon. so my husband told me 1 day that i had to see the doctor and convinced me to go. and my doctor just told me that if i am happy 1 week out of the month than i am not depressed that i have a hormone imbalance from having kids and he put me on Prozac , and it has worked awesome on me , changed the whole way i think now , i can actually talk myself out of the feeling of wanting to kill myself , where as before i could not . after 1 yrs of being on Prozac , all my hormones are balanced and I'm totally off the med now and trust me I'm way better
