There are 2 ways to boil an egg.

1. Run it under a warm tap.
2. Place it in a small bowl of water and microwave it on high for 20 minutes. If you prefer a hard boiled egg, microwave it for 40 minutes.

The steps are as follows.

1. Put the egg in a saucepan.

2. Place the saucepan on a stove and cook over medium heat until water boils.

3. Reduce the heat to low

4. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes for softboiled eggs and ten to 15 for hardboiled eggs.

5. Remove the egg with a spoon or ladle and cool slowly or run cold water over it to cool it more quickly.

Get a pot fill it with water (about half way full) add vinager...keeps eggs from leaking out if they crack. Then when the water is boiling set a timer for about 7-10 minutes add the eggs and there you have it a hard boiled egg.

Unless your talking about poached same deal just crack the egg in the water it should stay together if you add the vinegar. When your done drain the water off the eggs...and make a mock eggs Benidict mmm mmm. All that is a peice of toast add 2 slices of tomato then the egg then 2 slices of american cheese (or whatever floats your boat) and melt the cheese and voila eggs Benidict.

boil a giant pot of water, and then put as many eggs as you are going to boil into the pot. bigger eggs take longer to boil (about a half hour i think) and smaller eggs take at least 20 minutes.) but be carefull because you can over boil an egg.

read a cookbook. I was wondering the same thing this afternoon. Not sure if you put it in boiling water or in cold and then bring it to a boil and how long does it need to boil. So, I'm just as confused. It's not a dumb question even though it sounds like one.
