I can only answer for Florida and Missouri. But, to get the tags for the boat, you will need to take the title, registration and any other papers for the boat along with a copy of your property tax receipt or a letter from the county appraiser's office stating you either paid property tax or you didn't need to pay property tax. Then, once you've got everything, you go to the local automobile license agency and they can tell you that you need even more paperwork than what you brought.

On the other hand... if the boat is documented... just give them a blank check and a smile.

Call a local marina or a marina in the state you want to register. Usually you need a registration sticker and you are assigned a registration number that you need to put on the boat. Even if you need to get it done today you did it on line, you might need to wait for the stickers to come in the mail.

If you can do it online, it usually is through your Department of Motor Vehicles. You can check with them.
