I just introduced 20 female guppies to my 9 fancy male guppies in order to calm the males down. I'm monitoring the fish in order to make sure they acclimate, and I've noticed they're hanging out at the bottom of the aquarium a lot...just sitting there. I did a water test and my nitrates are high as normal b/c I don't have any real plants, but other than that the water is fine. They don't usually sleep on the bottom so I ruled that out. What the heck is wrong? Are they just trying to get their groove on?

I think you said it right, they are grooving on their own. When we had guppies, they were all over, up and down and inbetween. I'll never own guppies again. Sorry, just too many of 'em.

no matter if the angelfish is the most non violent fish contained in the international, it remains a plausible predator to the guppies. The guppies are likely petrified of it and are urgent up adverse to the glass to get as a procedures away for it as plausible. they're watching it to make positive it doesn't sneak up on them, and waving their tails waiting to shoot off. attempt a try. eliminate the angelfish for some hours. in the journey that they are nevertheless doing it, it truly is for sure no longer the angelfish and it truly is another reason. in the journey that they offer up and change into better comfortable, it is the angelfish they concern. As for the female, if she is fat and sounds like she is about to blow up, then sure, she virtually actual is in a position to furnish start. If she isn't fat, then she ought to have an ailment. good success. =)

guppies are extremely prolific, they will breed anywhere in the tank, and at any time of the year.they are worse than gerbils.if they are hanging out near the bottom, your water temp is probably too high, or toxins may be building up in the tank.

No, those little males don't care what level they are in when they get the urge. And it seems they always have the urge!!!! If your fish are at the bottom they might be under stress or are sick.

I agree, I think they are just trying to adapt. Of course, keep an eye on them its always possible that you got sick fish. But my guess would be they are just getting used to their new home.
