New front pads and rotors, but starts squeaking after driving for a while. Sounds JUST LIKE pad indicators; stops when you brake. What would a bad wheel bearing do? I'm stumped.

First, make sure it is not a cheap brake pad. The cheaper they are the more likely to squeal. Also, make sure all mating surfaces were lubed properly, it will help to take care of noise(hopefully, if good brake pads) As for wheel bearings, it will be a loud whirring noise, usually starts around 15-20 miles an hr and up. Being an 98 GM vehicle, probably needs them.

Give em a while for the new pads and rotors to get acquainted with each other. You did put that gel stuff (that everyone throws away)between the pad and the caliper piston didn't you?

With the car in the air (weight off of the wheels), shake the wheel and see if you have any bearing play. If not, you are looking the wrong way. While it is in the air and secured with jackstands, start it and put it into gear and let it idle. Hear anything? Have someone in the car while doing this in case it starts to shake or vibrate off the stands. Be careful and watch where you put your hands and head.

Go 40mph and put on the brakes slowly until you stop.
Wait a few minutes and do it again 5 times.
This should "season" the brake pads and set then to the caliper.
Slides may also need cleaned and lubed.

When you put new rotors on this car they have to be put on a lathe and have a finish cut done on them. Its not possible to just slap em onthere anymore and get good results.
