My favorite book is "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare," a collection of plays and poems.

It is my favorite because Shakespeare is the grand master of human nature ("practically the inventor of the human personality" says one writer). He's the centerpiece of evolving world literature. I never stop learning from him.

Starship Troopers by Robert Heinlein.. A science fiction anti war book about a coming of age and finding himself ina future war environmeny with a lot of thought regarding government s and politics... worth a read but don't watch the movie it's total crap apart from the special effects which are good... but then a lot of movies these days are and get away with destroying a good book, just with special effects.

Apart from the Bible[best book of all] my favourite book is The Kama Sutra. This is a book on Indian love-making.It is a very practical book ,giving good advice on suitable partners, a very good common sense book on how to avoid pitfalls of making wrong and tragic choices. It is a book on good manners in romance, and in love matters.

Catcher in the Rye, people blow it off as being such a bad book. But it has such a great story of an immature adolescent and there is so much symbolism in this book. Everyone thinks that its unrealistic and dumb but this happens in a teenagers mind.

"Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance"

I read it years ago travelling after university, and suspect if I went back it's probably pretty cliched... but at the time it seemed like a really interesting take on the things that were important in life... basically a roadtrip book where the guy ponders on the meaning of life and the meaning of "quality"

Probably 'Big Sur' by Jack Kerouac because, I don't know, because the people in it are everyday people but they're trying to see through the crap and they come across as alive but really freaky, mad spirits searching for some home. Apparently it reflects the writer's struggle to come to terms with his own myth. I like that.
