A black widow will get a nasty infection, but it WILL go away.

I had a friend who was bitten by a brown Recluse. The venom in the bite began destroying her muscle tissue. It became almost a flesh eating virus.

It destroyed half of her thigh.

Brown Recluse! have you seen what it can do to you?
the idea of you flesh basically being eaten away...not something i ever want to happen to me!
Plus, i have to disagree with the others who have posted saying Black Widow bites are deadly. They can be but it is VERY unlikely. The very old, very young, and those in poor health can have more serious reactions and it is possible that a bite could be fatal for them- but again as i said it is unlikely. From 1920 to 1940 only four to five percent of black widow bites were fatal...and now, well you can guess that percent has gone way down! It is not true that there is no antivenin for black widows- there is! but the most common treatment is that of calcium gluconate given through an IV. However, the best thing for a black widow bite (on top of medical care!) is time and your own body's defenses.
I'm not saying i would like to be bitten by either spider because both would be horrible but if i had to choose between the two- definitely the black widow!

Well, they both have horrible consequences if you're bitten
-A black widow has an extremely painful bite, and the anti-venom is kind of a risky thing...and if you don't keep your cool, you could go into shock and have a heart attack, which is why a lot of people lose their lives...
-A brown recluse has almost no pain symptoms in its bite, which makes it so dangerous, because you don't notice that you're bitten(unless you see it) before its too late in most cases, and the venom is related to that of a flesh eating virus.

I've known countless people that have lost fingers, legs, toes, and even an eye due to Brown Recluse bites. I'd rather take my chances with a Black Widow, because their bite marks eventually go away...the brown recluse bites..well...look up thier bites in an image search and compare it to Black Widow bites and you'll get my point...

Well, a Black Widow bite can be fatal, of course. With a brown recluse you can lose a limb or, if ignored long enough, you can die from that, too.

All in all, considering Black Widow antidote is a rare thing, I would personally have to say a Black Widow is more dangerous.

Well I would have to say that I'll take my chances with the Black Widow. I have been bitten by a stupid Brown Recluse. And it was TERRIBLE! I didn't know what was on my foot and it got real bad real fast. I was like "I thought it was just a spider bite, but spider bites can't do that." My foot looked and felt like it was rotting right off my body. It looked so nasty and really really hurt.I could hardly walk, I had to get one bigger shoe because mine didn't fit. I ended up having to take Antibiotics by IV, every other day for 2 weeks,Plus all sorts of other pills and blood tests with sharp needles to make it go away and heal. I never knew a spider bite could do that. Stupid spiders.

Widow you still have about 3 hours if a Recluse bites you before major damage starts. A widow is much faster.

God....I guess I wouldn't actually be able to answer that question had been bit by both of them. You would probably need to break the question down a bit further. Such as neurological effects, physical effects....Pain threshold. From the life threatening aspect...I would have to lean towards the black widow. From the way that the brown recluses venom will cause your flesh to die....and well....lose limbs and such....the Brown recluse. Hmmm...just don't get bit, and you'll never have to worry about it.

That depends on which you think feels worse... feeling like your bones are crushing or having your flesh rot off where the bite was.
