going rate for them on Ebay was around £12 - £18 when I last looked around January.......... but they're only recommended as a gift, rather than for investment purposes

Just multiply the weight by the price of gold (what, about $600/oz. nowadays?)

There are 16 ounces in a pound, but be careful! Typically precious metals are measured in troy ounces, where there are 12 ounces to the troy pound.
