Indian men & women often shake their heads from side to side when speaking to someone. Is this cultural?

I work for a company with offices in Bangalore and have observed that when Indian people talk to one another they often bob their heads from left to right repeatedly. I'm not trying to be disrespectful. I am just wondering why that is. Is it the same as when some people use their hands a lot for expression when they talk? I find it fascinating observing the smallest things about different cultures especially how they communicate - their expressions, their mannerisms etc.

yes it is a bit cultural and a bit habitual, but its not the same everywhere. in the southern part of India a nod may mean something affirmative, and in the north its a shake rather a nod !

is nt heir culture really. actually the thing is tat they got habituated from childhood. many start doing that from their schooling.. tey do tat coz they fear to talk to thier teachers in t school n it becomes a habit to them. tiz is the fact behind their moving heads.

sorry, are you taking about women wearing a hijab? if so than, i do no longer placed on it because of adult men. I placed on it because that's my faith and my God instructions me to finish that.
