If they were more intelligent to begin with, then they would already have thought of that as a possibility and it would be ruled out as an option.
4) They would only hybridize if it were beneficial. If that's the case, then logically the only reason to hybridize would be to gain intelligence - or some physical benefit not linked to intelligence. Perhaps they would need a better muscle system to be able to maneuver on Earth.
5) No matter what you believe, until it's proven it's all just so much conjecture.
6) Could it be happening? Yes, it could. Is it likely? No.
