He was the ideal of the young generation of the time and even is of this generation. A citizen of the country without borders who rushed where he saw injustice. He was no Cuban and yet he had played a prominent part in its freedom struggle. Once Cuba was liberated he had nothing to do with it and turned his eyes to othere South American country being crushed under Western domination. He died in the attempt. Countruy specific revolutionaries had been there and respected for their sacrifices but Che was a hero whom every country claimed as their ideal.

These times are such that there is hardly anybody who can be held as an example tobe followed by our children. They are so punies. Among them Che stands as a mighty Collosus who can be proudly looked up to irrespective of the creed, coloour and country of the onlooker. Viva Gievara!

lerina's answer is correct as to who Che Guevara WAS.
I'll add an icon at Harvard university, a popular face on tee shirts worn by idealistic revolutionaries that may or nor know why they want to wear his face on their tee shirts. His children still live in Cuba, in what once was a very nice home in Miramar. They do not get any proceeds from anything sold with their father's name, face, quotes etc. In fact, part of their home is a rental to Europeans that visit the island to use as a motel for prostitution. This is how they make their money. How sad! The so called revolution he helpped create was the same one that had him killed and the same one that does not take care of his kids. He was an idialist and a murder, but he was the good looking one. History.

Ernesto Guevara de la Serna (June 14, 1928[›] – October 9, 1967), commonly known as Che Guevara or el Che, was an Argentine-born physician, Marxist, politician, and leader of Cuban and internationalist guerrillas. As a young man studying medicine, Guevara traveled "rough" throughout Latin America, bringing him into direct contact with the poverty in which many people lived. Through these experiences he became convinced that only revolution could remedy the region's economic inequality, leading him to study Marxism and become involved in Guatemala's social revolution under President Jacobo Arbenz Guzmán.

Some time later, Guevara became a member of Fidel Castro's paramilitary 26th of July Movement, which seized power in Cuba in 1959. After serving in various important posts in the new government and writing a number of articles and books on the theory and practice of guerrilla warfare, Guevara left Cuba in 1965 with the intention of fomenting revolutions first in the Congo-Kinshasa (later named the Democratic Republic of the Congo) and then in Bolivia, where he was captured in a CIA/ U.S. Army Special Forces-organized military operation. Guevara died at the hands of the Bolivian Army in La Higuera near Vallegrande on October 9, 1967. Participants in, and witnesses to, the events of his final hours testify that his captors executed him without trial.

After his death, Guevara became an icon of socialist revolutionary movements worldwide. An Alberto Korda photo of Guevara (shown) has received wide distribution and modification. The Maryland Institute College of Art called this picture "the most famous photograph in the world and a symbol of the 20th century."[1]
