love for humanity!!

Love for the whole of Humanity is a Philosophical and / or Religious point - a general guideline for living correctly day by day. Love on an individual basis is a specific individual decision involving more direct involvement. They are both equally important. One guides spiritual wholeness and one guides individual happiness.

Love on an individual basis. To love the whole of humanity doesn't seem genuine, you love humanity even if they can do something horrid. If a war is going on, and you're going around loving all of humanity, it's not always going to love you back and loving it isn't going to do much for it.

If you love people on an individual basis, you can do alot more for them. Every person in need that you meet you can love, but just to love everyone on the street is kinda ridiculous.

But I haven't been able to think well lately and the way I'm giving my opinion is rather scattered and not very eloquent.

It's easy to say I have love for the whole of humanity. But to love people on an individual basis is more difficult, and the reality.

An individual can be smart, but large groups of people will always tend towards stupidity. Knowing (and loving) someone as an individual and upholding expectations of them will encourage them to take responsibility for themselves. Accepting all people as a part of "humanity" is more benevolent, but less practical and useful.

I personally find that, therefore, it is better to love individuals. There is, however, a role for some people to love humanity; this applies to certain types of leaders and mentors (usually, but not always spiritual).

On an individual basis. If you loved them as a whole, once you were betrayed or whatever, you would also hate them as a whole... Not good.

I think it's more important to love them on an individual basis because it's a lot safer that way. Then again, there is also the tendency for taking people as they come to erode the pain of prejudice. How could I look at my friend James who is black and judge him based on his color? I can't. I see James, and he is my friend regardless of the color of his skin. This is how I overcome race hatred.

individual, no one really loves humanity. They may care for them and hope for the best for them, but this is nothing compared to the love between individuals.

My outlook on this is that a person, by himself is generally good..... Put them in a group "Gang" and they become like wolves, having to prove to each other who is the toughest... Therefore I would conclude that it is FAR easier to love individuals than ALL of humanity as a group... However, it is NEEDED for every one of us to stretch out a hand for humanity...

Just trying to love one person is difficult enough. Try small steps first before having that huge dream of a big love in, though we are told that the one at Woodstock wasn t so bad. Keep on dreaming.
