They did it because they could. N. Korea isn't an extension of the US. Their leader seems set on proving he has "balls" and "intelligence" (sounds familiar to me). Who can blame them? Once upon a time the US did the same thing, and we actually killed people... we're the only nation that has done so.

We want people not to make nukes, but we still harbor our own. What example are we setting? That we rule the world and can have nukes, but since you aren't a "democratic" (read: republic) country like us, you can't have any. It's a load of crap.

Military won't be sent over there because our people will refuse. After our idiot president sent our troops to oust someone that had nothing to do with the cause of the whole current debaucle, his approval rating tanking, his drive to change the fabric of America with all his garbage - who is going to approve of another war outside of him?

Fact is, we'll talk and sit on our hands until something happens. When people die, we'll react. Before that happens, however, we're going to shake our heads and wonder why we're fighting in the country we are when the only WMD's ever found were pre-Gulf War.

Sad but true.

It's not an easy question to answer - the "why" of it, I mean. Kim Jong-Il has been so closed off from the rest of the world that he has the reality-checking skills of Michael Jackson. I think he is trying to show the world that any attempt to invade North Korea or change his regime will be met with devastation for all parties concerned. I don't believe he wants that final confrontation, but I do believe that his posturing is a result of feeling threatened by the vigilante actions of the u.s., canada, great britain...

What are we going to do about it? Are you asking what we SHOULD do? What do you mean "we", white man? Okay, I'm white too. If you didn't get the reference, just skip that last comment. First of all, the american administration doesn't want to touch North Korea with a several thousand kilometer pole - and why should they? They have a good thing going. With North and South Korea in a perpetual state of war, the u.s. gets to keep troops in a central location in Asia. Very convenient, strategically. If "coalition forces" were to invade North Korea, the world would expect some resolution to the problem. The world wouldn't stand for another occupation (which is exactly what the "war" in Iraq actually is...an occupation - not a war), and eventually, after the two Koreas join together again, the u.s. would be expected to pull out. Mark my words: that is the LAST thing they want. Perpetual war between the Koreas is good for american foreign policy. Bad for Korea, but good for america.

What should america do, then? Slowly get the hell out of South Korea, and leave them alone. The North and South would have a much better chance of ra peaceful reunification without the american military exacerbating an already very touchy situation.

America should also turn inwards on their "war on terrorism" and shut down their terrorist training camp (Western Hemispheric Institute for Security Cooperation) in Fort Benning, Georgia (formerly known as School of the Americas). The American government has instigated and/or supported terrorism for decades. If they are serious about making the planet safer, they should put an end to their own terrorist practices first. That way, other radical groups will be less likely to feel threatened and plan their own attacks.

North Korea fired a test missle and it failed after less than one minute of flight. We need to do whatever we can to keep our country safe from N Korea, this may eventually involve our military

to try to scare people, well first we are going to try to talk them out of it, and talk china into talking them out of it. then we will get into another mess like iraq and more people will hate us and call use killers and say how bad we are because we try to make the world fairly safe for non combatant countries.
