Have they done a MRI or imaging of the brain? My doctor is currently prescribing me pain killers to help with my migraines, but I am definitely not going to keep taking these addictive things. I would really hope that they can find something that is causing mine.
If your doctor doesn't want to prescribe pain medication or you do not want to take something that is addictive you can try to buy the OTC medicine Excedrin Migraine.
Good Luck!

I suggest seeing a chiropractor. I also had the same problem, and you would think I would've been able to solve it sooner being a nurse. However, when your body is out of line, it throws literally everything out of line. Stay away from caffeine, eat more fruits and veggies. Try and stay away from chocolate and believe it or not, alcohol can trigger this type of thing, especially rum. You can of course also see a specialist, but if your other doctor isn't seeing anything on tests or scans, I think more homeopathic methods of taking care of your migraines will help. Best of luck to you, and stay healthy!

My mother used to use Tylenol 3. It has codeine in it so it's prescription only! That's if you are in the USA.
I use Excedrin migraine it works in 30 minuets for me. But I'm sure you've tried all of the over the counter stuff already.

What have you done so far? If OTC medications do not work try Imitrex, Zomig, or Maxalt (all prescription). One of those should work for you. If they don't then maybe you should have you headaches evaluated further, (perhaps by a dr. specializing in headaches) since they could indicate a more serious problem.

The above person is correct, Nutrasweet is poison.
But my advise would be, have your jaw checked for TMJ. Lots of times having your teeth out of alignment can cause migraines. Maybe a bite plate for sleeping would help.

has your doctor tried any therapies with you at all?? Sounds like you should see a specialist...there are headache clinics in many of the larger cities that specialize in headache pain and treatment. It sounds like it affects your daily life, so don't think you have to put up with it - find someone who will investigate your treatment options (and trust me - there's quite a few! I have migraines myself)

Are you near the new long life low energy light bulbs? It has been proved that the indiscernible flickering causes migraines in people. Check out your lights as it seems when you go out you are ok. Good luck

That must be terrible. If you've only gone to one doctor about this maybe you need to try a different doctor preferably a specialist.
