I don't think any religion should be blamed for the actions of a few fundamentalists or corrupt politicians.
That's like saying all blond haired people are evil because Hitler had blond hair. It's not a causal connection.
Religion doesn't make people fanatic or corrupt. People become fanatic and corrupt despite what their religion teaches, and then go on to give that religion a bad name by association.
It doesn't matter whether we're talking about politicians or terrorists. Evil is done by individuals.

How do you make the jump between corrupted politicians and religion?
(Unless you are asking about Jerry Falwell and the bonehead from the 700 club) BUT I did not see any reference to either of these two high profile scam artists in your question.
As I understand it, the only reason Pat Roberts(?) is still on the 700 club is because he owns a large chunk of stock in the "club" and the broadcasting company.
That "fine" Christian "preacher" needs to go out and help the gene pool by drowning himself! Or letting the military help him like he proposed "we" do.

well, that depends on what country you're talking about. but lately, in the USA, its been the republicans who've been swaying christians into believing their hype. they openly talk about finding and killing terrorists, and somehow none of their christian values make them realize that one of the ten commandments is "thou shalt not kill".
i'm not saying that terrorists shouldnt be killed, i think they should be put to death, but i dont understand how a "good christian" can believe in killing another. they also dont seem to mind that the president has broken all kinds of laws, and even condoned torture, and holding people prisoner and denying them any kind of trial (which is what the romans did to the earliest christians). the level of corruption and hypocrisy is just mind-boggling.
