One occured while they were still together. The other four were formed after they disbanded. (All of these had major label LPs.)

My apologies. I meant to convey, via the timeline, that none of the five involve Eric Clapton as an actual member.

Only the first four after the Yardbirds breakup, all with major label deals. Many have already named the one formed while the Yardbirds were together. One of the other four only had one LP. The others, at least two. Sorry for the confusion. I'll put it up for a vote unless someone gets the exact five, preferably in order of formation.

So far, of the first nine answers, two have four of the correct bands!

I am not sure about the timeline but I do know that after Clapton left he got together with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers before hooking up with Cream and then Blind Faith. Jeff Beck formed The Jeff Beck Group. Jimmy Page ended up owning the rights to everything in the Yardbirds and tried to reform the band which was to be called the New Yardbirds until John Entwistle told him that name would go over like a Led Zeppelin. So Led Zeppelin was next, but they did tour Scandanavia as The New Yardbirds for a couple months because of contractual agreements with the record company. If that counts as five then I've got it. I am unaware of any other major acts that came from the Yardbirds but that doesn't mean there weren't any.

Led Zeppelin, Armageddon, Together (later renamed Renaissance), Box of Frogs, Cream.

It must be noted that before Clapton joined Cream and later, Derek & the Dominos, he had left the Yardbirds to join up with an existing band, John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers. This is the same band that Mick Taylor came from just before joining up with the Rolling Stones.

Oh boy, better stop me now before I start getting into a musical version of Six degrees of Kevin Bacon or something. LOL

Hmmm....Well, I'm not sure if I really understand your question, maybe I'm just dumb tonight but I must say that the Yardbirds are very interesting and their revolution of music is very amazing. Billy-Boy's forming of The Strutts, was also a very good highlight in my musical history.

I like Over,Under, Sideways, and Down, Mr. You're a Better Man Than I, and I'm Not Talking. All very good recordings of the classics.

Okay okay, enough rambling on, I know half of ya'll don't even care. Good luck finding your answer, i'll be checking back for the official correct response.

I can only think of one - it was Led Zeppelin (Jimmy Page was the Yardbirds' guitarist, and in fact Led Zeppelin's name was originally going to be The New Yardbirds).
