Because we know that our pets are kind of like the retarded child we never had. It's sweet and loving and yet its dumb as hell. If there is no intent behind an action, any retaliatory response would be of no meaning, aka, pointless. You can't hurt a cigar for being a cigar.

Some people do have a tendisy to hurt the ones they Love. I think it's because they know this person will forgive them the fastest.

We hurt our pets emotionally all the time--just like people. But pets can't tell us, so we live in ignorant bliss that we don't hurt them.
Look in their eyes when you ignore them and every time you leave--trust me they are hurting.

Because we know that pets love us unconditionally and will always comfort us in times of distress. It is rare to find that in humans!

because i don't love my rock. it's just a rock for gods sack. (i'm talking about a pet rock for those of you that couldn't figure tht one out)
