Easy! Because black people are not idiots, they would want to associate with only the finest candidates. And, the finest black minds in America...Colin Powell, Condolezza Rice, Larry Elder, Herman Cain (I *love* Herman Cain!**), are Republicans.

**I originally wrote Harvey, but meant, of course, Herman. I blame the catnip.

I think that certain candidates or persons, like Colin Powell, was popular across party lines.

He turned down running for president, which was a tragedy. He was a rational person that could have led our country in a much better direction, especially in international relations. And being popular among both Republicans and Democrats... a person like that it wouldn't matter if you were black, white or purple as long as you could get the people (all people) to rally, despite partisan beliefs.

Republicans? Democrats? They basically are the same.
The Congress Reps come from wealthy, educated families.
And America is still predominately White.(though some White America has this big scare of the increase of Hispanics-gee!) It will be a long time before we ever have a woman or a minority for a President, and then it may never happen anyway.

When Shirley Chisholm ran in 1972, she was laughed off by both parties.

Along the female approach. Geraldine Ferraro is a VP candidate and the Republican viterperations were incessant.

Hillary is thinking of it and the GOP is already having a meltdown.

Who truly is the progressive party? What has the GOP done?

Because they just use the Africans for votes. Affirmative Action is OK, as long as it stays out of the White House. Hypocrisy, may be the word I'm looking for. I'd like to seem them run Marion Berry, or Al Sharpton.

The party has to keep teh african americans still believing they are a victim, it is thier party theme for racism. So if they actually solved the race issue, then they would no longer be a victim and not need thier party.

They bash because they bash, does not matter why

Because they are just as prejudiced as anyone else, though they would have you think that they would have an African-American for president. They only use African-Americans when it suits them, like Barrack Obama (sp?). I would personally vote for a person of any sex or color if they could do the job.

Who did you have in mind? Colin Powell would stand a chance, but he's Republican. If you had a Powell/McCain ticket or McCain/ Powell in 2008, I don't think any democrat of any race would stand a chance unless they proposed something really radical but well received, like flat rate income tax.
