I like the rules, they speed up the game, and create scoring chances. In disagreement to the first reply, the goalie equipment should be resized, goalies are relying to much on large pads and not enough on talent. I play hockey, and, believe me, using big pads isn't the greates idea. Good talent will bring better games, and a more exciting sports. The goalie lines behind the goal line can be good and bad at times, as it limits their area of control, and therefore, area to freeze the puck. The two line pass rule stunk, and its about time they got rid of it. Those are my opionions.

I like them. I thought I wouldn't like the shootout but it gives the fans a winner. If there was no shootout each team would get a point anyways so they have nothing to lose.
The rest of the rules have opened up the game rather well.
The best move was getting rid of the neutral zone trap stuff, sorry Devils fans.
My team still sucked-the Bruins.
Mike O' Connell what the f$$% were you thinking with those trades you made you idiot-enjoy the unemployment line, some village out there needs an idiot you are defineately qualified for that job.

Is there crosschecking, grabbing and holding in front of an NBA net?
Can a Firstbaseman trip the runner going to second?
When you pay your money you want to see the good players at their bet. Not WWF crap.
The players have a long history of getting away with the wrong thing, or that after a while the rules start to bend, and are slow to adjust.
Hopefully this will not happen and the officials stand tough. Once the players realize this, they should adjust.

I personally thought there was nothing wrong with the old NHL.
I can't stand the shootout, there are too many penalties and I dislike the idea of goalies not being able to come out of the net to play the puck...That's like telling a QB in football that he can not run the ball.

Way too many penalties were called. They need to let the players continue to be physical. I think they should also allow some of the hooking/holding. Getting rid of the two-line pass alone will help increase scoring chances.
Getting rid of the red line, and not letting games end in ties are HUGE for improving the sport. The new economics for the game will also help teams improve their rosters, and increase parity in the league.

Some were good, some were bad!! They need to go back to just one referee and have more consistency in the officiating...I saw some bad penalties called during the playoffs notably in game 7 of the finals!!! The Refs won the cup for Carolina!!!

I hate the penalty for hte goalie out of the trapezoid thing. It drives me nuts. Why does Gary Betman honestly think americans care about hockey. it only works in a few spots like Minnisota, Detroit, Philly, Denver, Dallas, Boston. He changed the rules so ---holes in places like Anihiem and Pheonix would come to games and did they. no they did ent

I think they need to cut back on some of the calls. Now, I grew tired of the "clutch and grab" style of play and can appreciate opening up the game but it's getting to be like the Ice Capades. Fred Shero has rolled over in his grave.

i'm a fan of the Flyers so I shouldn't like the new rules since Bobby Clarke refuses to go with speed and sticks with big, slow knuckle-draggers. but I personally think they haven't gone far enough. the sport is a great sport with speed unrivaled in any other sport. let's see more speed. yeah, let the brain dead guys out once in a while to bash each other out and keep the Shero die-hards happy, but to let it become a sport the masses can enjoy, open it up even more.

I hate to say that I am still deciding. I think once the players started to get used to them it got better. I kind of like the new rules about the blue line/ 2 line pass thing.
