my brothers laptop has an inbuilt wireless receiver is it possible to do that for a desktop computer. if so how do i proceed.(i am not talking about lan)

Yes its possible for a desktop to become wireless. What you need is a PCI adapter card installed if your computer already doesn't support it. You can search for "PCI adapter" on the internet or go to your nearest computer store to buy it. It is pretty simple to install.

Just Curious.... are you referring to a wireless network for your home, or are you referring to a roaming wireless connection.. such as clearwire, because clearwire, or any other non-land based connection is by no means feasible...
