What is wrong with the Sprite commercials? They are just too creepy. It's enough to make me not buy the drink anymore...and I love that stuff.

Advertisers are responding to changes in consumers viewing habits. Most of us cannot remember half the commercials we see. If you don't believe me, write down all the commercials you would see if you didn't flip for an hour. It will surprise you. The advertisers have to come up with something to break through all the clutter.
The Sprite commercials are an adaptation of an idea I first saw used by automobile manufactures to combat the VCR. You often see the manufactures symbol on screen for several frames. This made it stand out when people would fast forward through the commercials. The Sprite ad is geared towards people with DVR's. I have one and I must admit, I go through each one to see the "subliminal" (their word, I don't truly believe it to be mind altering) parts of the ad. They slip stuff in so people like me will slow it down and try to figure out what is going on in the ad. General Electric has done a similar ad in the past and I'm sure more advertisers will follow.

Commericals have not been sensible for a long long time. The reason is simple; commericals are not attempting to inform the viewer of anything. What they are trying to do is create an "image" that the viewer will come to identify with a product. MacDonald's has mastered this one; their commercials have been entirely directed at the image they want us to have of their company. And it works!

reason 465 why I do not have television, the drug of a nation, pumped into our home.
it's a pretty sad day when we let what we see on television influence our choice of beverage.
if you like sprite, drink it. if you have stopped liking the flavor of it, then don't drink it.
other than that who gives a wholly crap who is using whatever tactics to get the sheep of tv land to follow along.

VERY CREEPY! i hat the one with the sumo wrestlers on the sprite commercials! Its really freaky. or the little pple who go energize her tounge, very creepy. I mean wht the hell.....

A lot of commercials are that way now. They actually have absoulutely nothing to do with the product they are selling. It's enough to make you stop and say.... WHAT THE #*@%^???
