I dated a muslim man, and I am not. We will not marry because I will not convert. Islamic faith says that the couple must be muslim. there may be a "loophole" if both parties agree to raise the children muslim. My bf and i could not agree on that, and thus cannot be together. Religious differences make the world so difficult. I hope that some day we will all learn that we are all of one God, with only different names. Then maybe we can all be together.

YES! Both parties has to be MUSLIM in order to have the marriage recognised in an Islamic religion. It was long long time ago that a Muslim man can marry a woman from the religion of the books, namely, christian, jewish. But it is no longer that way now, cos no woman of that group follows strictly to the books of that time. if there are a, YES Muslim man can marry that woman. Otherwise, she has to convert. As for muslim woman, the man has to be a muslim. So to conclude, both has to be muslim in order to be married legally in the eyes of the religion. If you dont bother, then it is up to you, and answerable to GOD ALMIGHTY.

No both parties do not have to be Muslim. However a Muslim woman must marry a Muslim man. And a Muslim man can marry a non Muslim that way it is ensured the the children will be raised Muslim. Funny though I converted to Catholicism. Most imporant is we respect one another. It is all about love. Peace to you!

Yes i know.A Muslim woman cant marry a non Muslim man but a Muslim man can marry a non Muslim woman and if a non Muslim woman turns Muslim after marriage so the children wouldn't feel trouble in choosing one religion otherwise sometimes it could cause a big problem for children
