No - the water would still have dissolved solids, although chlorine will evaporate in 24 hours. You'd still have sodium, magnesium potassium, flouride if it's added to your tap water, and other impurities. You're best to buy distilled water (available at pharmacies and medical supply houses) if you need it - building your own still is a pain.

no - if you want to make it, then boil the water, collect the steam, and let it recondense into water. good luck with that.

Easier to go to the store and buy a jug of it.

Cheers!

people who say yes, or have some other strange recipe are steering you wrong, and if you use that when you need distilled water, you are going to have trouble. Just look up distilled in the dictionary to see what it means.

Yes, just put ONE DROP (no more) of bleach per GALLON of water and let it sit at least a week or more before drinking. That's how people were preserving water for the Y2K scare.

And by the way, regular tap water isn't really bad for you (unless you live in Mexico City or something) because there's nothing that harmful in it. It's always treated and goes straight to your sink. Most pipes are made out of non-lead metals now too, so it's fine. Really.

No. Distilled means just that, distilled. It has to be heated to boiling and then steam is forced out of the water and that steam turns into the distilled water as it cools.

"Distilled" means that the water has been boiled off and then recondensed, reducing drasticly the impurities in the water. Letting a jug of water sit for weeks will not improve it's quality in any way.

No distilled is actually cleaner than tap water. Two different items. There are lots of "grades" of water...Trust me I sell many forms of water. HPLC, Reagent, Triple Distilled.... it's crazy what can be done to WATER.

Distilled and Purified water is actually sold at places like Wal-Mart!

If you put tap water in a jug and let it set, it will just stagnate. Boil it first.

Rain water is ideal, yet spider flora will be fantastic with tap water. I actual have used tap water on mine and they have grown and thrown out toddler spiders and not using a difficulty. The puppy hate of spider flora is being over-watered. they do compared to being in moist soggy compost or soil. keep them quite dry and only water even as the soil is crumbly. in addition they favor to be in a very cool surroundings, with mild, yet faraway from direct photo voltaic. in reality, spider flora will improve properly, in spite of out distinctive interest and could produce toddler flora, better immediately, even as the significant plant is pot-sure.
