Parenting is the most important job ever!!! I think it can be hard on both fronts but at least the father can get a break from the kids, staying at home with them all the time can be stressful.

Being a stay at home mother can be much harder. It really depends on how old the children are. If they are between 0 and 4 it can be much harder. I was a stay at home mother for 2 years and I would much rather had been at work. There is always something to do with small children. My children are older now but I would still rather be at work then at home all day. When you stay at home you are constantly reminded of things that you need to do around the house or for the children. Work is just another word for a PAID BREAK to me! If the father isn't lifting boxes or other things all day, then he doesn't even come close to comparing!

Being a stay at mom is harder. I am a stay at home mother of three. And it is hard they are ages 11 8 5 and they are everywhere and getting into things and my oldest is almost a teen and acts like one already. Trust me it is harder because you can't go home at the end of the day to get away lol

Indeed.. it's tough staying home and raising kids. I stayed home with our son for the first 18 months after he was born. Then, my husband and I switched roles... he stayed home for three years while I worked and it wasn't long after I received a formal apology from my husband for being, well, basically, a jerk as he wondered by the dishes didn't get done or why the floors weren't mopped. Now we have two kids and I'm staying home again and he's gone back to work. I don't get the flack I used to even when the house looks like a tornado hit it.

I believe both are equally tough I was a stay at home father for several months while I was laid off. Three kids and keeping the home cleaned, and cooking a lot harder than I ever thought it would be.

I think both carry a great deal of responsibility however, I just told my husband this morning (as he was leaving for work) that I would trade him jobs, anyday! Let's face it - he goes off to work and has that 1 thing to do while I stay at home with the kids (6 at home) and have 100 jobs to do - it is not hard to figure out which is the more difficult job!

I DO!! Okay, I did the whole staying at home mommy thing twice: once with my only child, a baby, and second, with a 2,3, and 4 year old!! (My hubby's kids) Everyday I could not wait to go to school or work, and when I got a full time job it was literally the best day of my life! Staying home with kids (especially with little ones or a lot of whatever ones) is HARD. Your job never ends, the poor momma has to deal every second from sun up to sundown, its hard, YEAH TRUST ME IT SUX

I KNOW it's harder. I work at a factory and my job is a difficult and stressful job. I recently had to be off work for a month. Cooking, cleaning, chasing down a two year old all day, laundry, oh my goodness. The first day my husband came home from work complaining about his day I had to walk two miles to keep from knocking him the @*%# out! You are a strong woman, because, it is definitely not easy!

You can count me. But of course, I was a stay at home mom....14 years. Then I worked part time, which is even harder, because you have 2 jobs. Now I'm retired, no kids at home. LOVE IT.

Indeed, staying at home with the kids full time can be very stressful. Guys just dont get it how hard it is. It takes a lots of work and paitience when dealing with kids. All the guys know is how cute it is to play with the child, but they dont deal with the negative aspects of child rearing.
