With the new Yahoo toolbar, when I log into my email account, I can click on the Messenger icon and see that this person is online. So, I logged into Yahoo IM, sent an instant message asking this person to contact me and they haven't. That is why I am asking the question. It they have permanently deleted me as one of their contacts, will they even receive my IM?

Ok, you can't be certain, which IM? on yahoo sorry I am not certain there, but with msn, you can check under tools>options>privacy and then click the button to see who has you in their contact list. If you are not in their contact list and they are never online (their online name never changes), it is a good guess that you are permanently deleted. On yahoo I would guess that if they are never online, that is a good sign that you are no longer contacts, or they are on a very long vacation.

Well, if you have them in your address book on yahoo, when you see his/her name, you'll see the instant messenger face, if it's on, he's online, if not he/she's not. Someday you'll catch them on throughout that method

i'm afraid this is not possible, to not receive im's from certain people you need to put them in your egnore list.
