its different for different colleges, and even within a college u can get differnt kinds of places to live. some are like 5 people share 1 bathroom. some are like..entire hallway of rooms have 1 bathroom which has 3-5 stalls and 3-5 showers. some are like 1 room, has 2-3 people, and they share 1 bathroom. so it just depends on where u go and u can contact the college people about the kinda housing they provide. i m sure u can look it up on their website too.

Generally there are three different types of dorms.
The first, which is the most common is the "common bathroom at the end of the hall." (note-these are usually on same-sex floors.) This is what I had when I was in college and although it is unnerving at first, there's a lot of social interaction in there, guys getting ready for dates, shaving in the morning, whatever gets talked about. In this setup you carry everything back and forth to your room in a little shower caddy or bucket or something. I used one of those mini laundry basket with holes drilled in the bottom to drain the water. I should probably add that
its not just a room full of toilets and shower heads. These are all inndividual stalls. You do get SOME privacy!
The second is the "suites" where two or three rooms share one larger bathroom between maybe six people.
Some of your higher-cost dorms probably have private bathrooms for each room.
I really feel a large part of the "college experience" is learning socialization in diverse atmospheres -- I've observed that if you can have a casual conversation while shaving/toothbrushing in a communal bathroom, you can pretty much fit in anywhere!

It depends on the university and the dorm itself. Some are military barracks style with a community bathroom. Others are built with bathrooms in each suite. In a two bedroom suite, it's an open space that usually leads to a bathroom or communal bathroom, but that depends on the dorm. Privacy there would be similar to sharing a bedroom. You call the residence hall if you know where you will be staying to check on this. When I transferred to Ohio State from a community college, I wasn't required to stay in a dorm, and opted for an apartment with two other guys that offered a lot of privacy. Do you have to stay in the dorm for scholarship reasons?

bathrooms are different from residence hall to residence hall. some rooms have their own bathroom, some share a bathroom with one other room, some have stall showers and toliets like the gym.
I work at a college... it is a fun time in your life! it is a time to really discover who you are... I suggest getting involved with something whether it be a sorority, a club, an organization... but join something- it will help you meet people and it will help you feel connected to the campus and give you a sense of belonging.
have fun!

Depends on the college. I have found that there is usually a bathroom with many shower stalls and toilets centrally located on the floor or wing.
