A bird in the hand is worth 2 in a bush....meaning how precious to hold a bird..better then chasing two out of the bush...that you will never get! Don't be greedy!
A stitch in time saves nine....means...stitch something when it needs it and in time you won't need to stitch nine. Nine goes with time! Better than saying a stich in time will save you six!
Eat all your food, there are starving people in the world. Well, I get the let's be thankful and not waste. However, what are we going to do send leftovers across the world. They would rot before they got there!

A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush means, that if you have a bird in your hand, and you see two in the bush, and you go after the two in the bush, then you'll probably lose the bird in your hand, and most likely the two in the bush also. (Or "don't be greedy")
A stitch in time saves nine means that if you see a small hole in your clothing, then you should sew it up right away, or you will end up sewing a bigger hole later on. (don't be lazy)
