So go talk to your Democratic mayor or senator.

There will always be homeless people unless you force everyone to have a home, which would be unconstitutional. How many homeless people have you talked with? I've spent time with several. You would be surprised at how many are homeless by choice. Your sympathy is sweet, but I've met some homeless men who left families for the road. They stick out a hand during the day, make a hundred plus bucks and spend it on alcohol and prostitutes.

I feel much worse for homeless families. Be comforted that there are places they can go (like the salvation army).

As far as millions for war, yeah, the BILLIONS spent sucks. We need a strong military and that costs billions, but I can't agree that the current war is a legitimate action/expense. However, I wouldn't say that the choice is between occupying Iraq or housing the homeless.

Why are there so many homeless people in the USA? There isn't. Unemployment is near institutional levels. Most homeless choose to be so, are on drugs, or have other medical problems. It is not the central government's job to solve or fix homelessness. It is yours and mine in our own communities.
On the other hand, it is the central government's job to defend the United States. The duly elected executive and legislative branches have acted in Iraq and other places in ways they strongly believe will protect us from future attack. Why does Bush have millions for war? Because the Congress, duly elected and acting under their constitutional authority has provided these millions for a legitimate cause.

There should be Laws against Homeless People and Panhandlers hanging around the streets of our Cities. The Government should build camps for them way out in the country.
Then the buses should come and round them up and drive them to the Camps where they should learn agriculture and make Ethanol for our Cars. The camps would have an Entertainment Budget but the Money could only be spent for Grand Opera and Classical Symphony Concerts and Plays by Ibsen and Shakespeare. How about that.

The problem is NOT that there isn't any money and that they make loans for war. The problem is that they make the loans for war and not for the homeless and needy. And you are right in stating that Bush has millions for war because if he uses them it's because they have them, you cannot use something you don't have, even if it's a loan you do have the money in your power the instant you receive the loan. The problem is that in a capitalist government, the search for power goes over the well-being of citizens in it's priority list.

Millions...you said Bush has millions for war? Try HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS! Some economists see a total expense of our 'war' in Iraq as going to a TRILLION. Had we not deposed Sagam, we could have spent that money on lots of things here at home that need fixing...homelessness being one.

some people are homeless because they prefer it (beleive it or not) they like living below the radar and prefer not to collect welfare and not to work...

Bush has millions of $ for war because he wants to gain oil - Most politicians think only about the immediate - not about long term - anyone thinking long term would forget oil all together and explore air and solar powers totally... and anyone thinking long term would put population controls in place

poverty exists in teh USA because of choice as well as accident.. poor people who have kids know those kids are very likely to grow up to be poor but yet they still have and keep the kids... so you tell me - how can anyone complain about being poor if they think its ok to have kids knowing those kids will be poor?

This is one of the slime-buckets of politics. Politicians have their own agendas which usually have little or nothing to do with what the masses of people really need. Plus homeless people usually don't vote.
