From water and this and that and all kinds of other stuff. The old man evolved from the mud theory. Just like every other possible life form in the universe did.
So man is no different from animal or plant or insect because he's just yet another roll of the dice, another thing that happened by chance.
Then, once man is reduced to this pathetic description, it's okay that he suffers or gets treated poorly or is killed because he's no more than a random occurence, like an owl but with higher intelligence. Oddly enough just like the state of affairs on the planet right now!
Or maybe man is not man as we know it but something more or undiscovered or lost at this time. Maybe man is not based on the evolution or alien race theories and such. Maybe man is not his body. Maybe we are something so much more than what we presently know. Maybe we've forgotten or things have been purposely hidden from us.
Or maybe not.

humans are descendents of a line of apes that were evolutionary successful due to their bipedal movement, grasping fingers, and eventual intelligence (from larger cranium capacity). Or, you could choose to ignore every piece of scientific evidence in the world and believe that god created life 6000 years ago...even though the dinosaurs had been around for a few million years before then...

Seriously, though, I prefer to go with the scientific belief that we gradually evolved from lower life forms (apes).
