Is it safe for me to paint the inside of my house while being pregnant?? i have heard many things!!?

It is best to let someone else do the painting. BUT if you have to be the one to do it make sure you are in a well ventilated area and wear a mask (the home improvement stores sell paint masks) and take breaks for fresh air often!

The fumes can be harmful to you and the baby!

Are you going to have one room painted or the whole thing? Forget the whole house, one room you can open the window and close the door. Also, make sure you get the safe paint that is non-toxic and has little smell. It may cost a little more, but worth it. Remember, ventilation is key here. Never sleep in a room you've just painted, pregers or not. Good luck with the little one.

The paint fumes are not good for the baby, so it is best not to paint.

If you have to, then make sure you are in a very well ventilated room to minimize the fumes you breathe in. It's also a very good idea to stop painting and leave the room every 20 minutes or so to breathe in some "fresh air".

Best bet - don't paint - let someone else do it to "help out the expecting mommy". :)

It is safe. Paint is not as bad for pregnant women as it used to be. They also have fume-free paints, and paints that don't have odor to it after a couple of hours. Make sure you have proper ventilation, and you can always go to the hardware store and get a painter's mask.

My daughter painted the nursery while pregnant with twins. The Dr said the fumes are strong enough to hurt you, but recommended opening windows & using fan to keep from getting nauseous.
