power is connected, so, its not battery prob..how can i rectify this? it shuts down, while i am using it, after 20-30 minutes...is it the fan? can i check it? or , is it something serious, like the motherboard? pls help!!!

Could be the heat, could be a memory conflict. Also could be dust build up, clean your fans reaaly well. For heat, make sure you have air circulation all around the unit. Don't let it sit on your bed or anything like that. Try logging when the problem occurs to see if there is a pattern.

This is going to sound crazy but it worked for me when i had the same problem with my dell laptop..it was dust accumulating inside....you need to blow into the back and side air vents...yes..blow.pretty hard.with your lips while holding the laptop in the air...If uve had it for some time i guarantee you it will make dust fall off the heatsink and fall out of the bottom..It worked for me!

Download i8kfangui from http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/ and monitor your CPU temp. My Inspiron 5160 gets into the high 60s, so if your fans are damaged or performing sub-standardly, you may have cooling issues.
