A lot of the Imams and People who study Islam and Quran have brought their own explanation of this verse. Let me tell you this, the secret to learn the Quran is to learn Arabic, which I know is very hard for you. The reason for that, is that the old Arabic is different from the modern one, so U need to be aware of some things because one word in Arabic can mean many different things, that even Arabs need a dictionary to understand the words. And for the word used in the Quran which is usually translated to "beat" can also be translated to "ignore" and "do not associate". The word used has many different meanings, however a lot of scientists are insisting that its "beat", while others disagree. But you know what, The prophet himself talked about abuse in general and talked about a woman who abused her cat, and this led her to go to hell. So if this is the result of the abuse of animals, then what is their fate if it was abuse towards women? EDIT: There's a Hadith (The prophet's Quote) that says that Heaven under the Mother's feet, and another Hadith that says more than 4 times the importance of respecting the muslim mothers more than the fathers.. then how is it that people say it's ok to beat up your wife in islam? She's the mother of your children.. and you should respect her, like U respected ur mother, and you should teach your children to respect her too.. if you beat her and ddisrespecther, her children will pick up this act and treat their mother the same way too.. and this will lead them to suffer in hell.. and all this is because of their father who mistreated their mother... so no.. I don't think islam encourages men to beat their wives. Another thing.. The prophet also said something about strength.. where he says that a strong man does not prove his sstrengthby violence..but by holding his anger.. soo Islam clearly discourages violence..

I for one do NOT! They are just speaking the truth as they see it, and unless you are blind in one eye & can't see out the other, you would see it too. But, hey, DID you vote?? I think we (US Citizens) are in this mess because (1) HALF of Americans didn't even BOTHER to vote because they were STUPID enough to think "my vote doesn't count" (DUH! It counts, --- AGAINST us!) and (2) OBVIOUSLY two-thirds of the remainder were "Republicians" that are so brain dead they blindly follow thier "party" like lemmings to the sea. They don't know where their leader is leading them, and they don't care, he's thier "leader" and because they are lemmings, they will follow him to thier deaths, because they don't have a lick of sense to take a good look at the situation and say, "Hey, this guy is screwed in the head, maybe we need to 'change direction mid-stream'". I personally in my 43 years of living have not seen a president get on national television so many times with that stupid "deer caught in the headlight looks". America's first clue should have been when the twin towers were bombed and our "President" thought it more important to continue listening to kindergardners read, than it was to find out who was bombing our country, the second clue should have been when he CHARTERED planes (paid for by American tax dollars, no less!) to assist Bin Laden & his family in their escape. PEOPLE OF AMERICA, WAKE YOUR A**ES UP! VOTE FOR GODS SAKE! HE**, vote for the sake of your children, but by all means VOTE! But if the scriptures are true, there is no hope for us now as our "President" initated a holy war that will destroy the earth. If Muslim propaganda get's people to vote, more power to them, voting pro-islam(?) I don't see it happening, but hey, I could be wrong. I figure if they won't even vote "Pro-American" why would they get off thier duffs & vote "pro-islam"???

well i don't pay attention much to the muslim world. but that would go for any country. Electing any bad leader or leaders will equal a bad runned country and it would soon fail. so don't pay the muslim groups no mind.

That's just a giant smokescreen, just like when Hitler said "OH we
