I've only had fish and two dogs, so I don't have much to choose from. I'm torn between both of my dogs, but since one just died this year, I'll tell you about her.
Her name was Bonnie and she was a purebred Golden Retriever. We kept her as an outside dog because she hated being indoors even when it was pouring rain!! After she got past the puppy stage, she never bit anybody. She rarely ever barked either, even when she would fall in the pool and be unable to get out herself. She would just whine. It's like she was so polite that she didn't want to bother us!! :o) She lived to be almost 13. Big dogs don't live near as long as small dogs, so we knew it was coming. Still, the day before and the day she died, I think I cried more than all the times I've cried in my lifetime combined. It was a terrible crisis for me, not having lost a pet before. She was a wonderful dog with a wonderful heart. I miss her a lot, but I've got my Toy Poodle to keep me company. Yep, they were at totally opposite ends of the puppy spectrum. :o)

I guess the best pet our family ever had was a dachshund named "Puddin" he was 17 human years old when we had to have him put to sleep. I buried him in our back yard so he could remain with us. In his 16th year our home was broken into. Puddin must have put up a valiant fight with the thief. We found two of Puddin's teeth when we returned home that evening. Our next door neighbor came over and said that Puddin raised such a noise that he had to come over to see why. He told us that he saw a black man duck down inside our fence. Our neighbor was caring his hand gun and evidently the black man thought he might be shot if he ran, so he stood up. My neighbor asked him what he was doing and the man replied with "I am here visiting my cousins, but they are not home now" My good neighbor new better because we were white and we hand lived next door for a long time without ever mentioning we had a black cousin. The black guy opened the gate and left, My neighbor watched him and he went into another home a block away.We found our VCR outside where the thief had set it down when our neighbor came up. we never found our Remote for it and that was all the thief had taken. we treated Puddin to several hot-dogs and a new toy, I think he new he had done a great job because he seemed to walk with a little more style after. I miss him still

My best pet was my cat, Zippy. When I got him, he was a kitten and he was a birthday present. I came home from work and all I saw was a big red bow running under my bed. That's how he got his name. After a few days, he came out and started following me around like a puppy. He was very protective of my son when he was a baby. He was the best "dog" I ever had.

Too many to choose from. Every pet I've had has been very special in his or her own way. Shandy - little mutt, barked at us while we swam. Whiskers - Black and white cat with long whiskers. Spice - ginger Siamese cat, loved potato chips. Carmilla - mountain dog puppy, ate a hole in our concrete living room wall. Midge - white and ginger short haired cat, her name was Midge, short for Midget, but she turned out to be a very very very fat Cat! Kitty Claws, also a white and ginger cat, my best friend as a teenager! Birdie Wordsworth (named by my Mom), got eaten by either Midge, Kitty Claws or Molson one unfortunate day. Molson - Golden Labrador, loved swimming in the lake with us. Ariel - gray Persian cat, one snob of a cat.
Currently... Sierra - another white and ginger cat.. friendliest cat ever. Tasha - black cat, my husband's best friend. And finally, Sunshine, a beautiful Golden Retriever puppy... our whole family's best friend!
Pets are a blessing.

The first was my great dane Sunny (his full name was J.&J.'s Sundance Kid, yes I love Robert Redford!) #2 is myChihuahua
Xena, the Warrior Princess! She was adopted from a rescue and had been abused, so I gave her a big girl name to build her self esteem!LOL
Actually when I brought her home we sat at the computer for two evenings going over name lists and I would call out a name I would wait for a response and Xena was the first one seh responded to, so that was what we named her! Tough strong female, I thought it was fitting for a survivor like her!

Well.... I tried to keep a frog.. It was soo cute and tiny. I put it in a box in my room.. One morning I woke up to get it out and it was gone. All of a sudden I heard my mom scream downstairs and ran down to see her with a broom in her hand trying to swat Kermie (my frog's name) in the living room. I quickly ran to it and picked it up. My mom stood there looking at me like I was crazy. But I decided to release him back to his natural habitat. My home was no place for Kermie.
