Despite all of the gay bashing going around, I'd have to say that Brokeback Mountain is a good one to watch.
If you're not into that type of thing, The Other Sister isn't too bad.
The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption are great movies as well.

Try "The Straight Story" starring Richard Farnsworth or "Second Hand Lion" with Michael Caine and Robert Duvall.
They are both great for different reasons (Second Hand Lion is funnier).

DARN..you took mine..I was going to say Garden State..THAT is an A+...well..Finding Neverland is a very good movie..It is a good movie..because it has a very cute and simple story..and it has Johnny Depp's wonderful touch to it...The Princess Bride is a good movie too..very fun and sweet...and so is Star Wars...it doesn't have a lot of blood...just our world in the future...very simple good vs. evil...father and son...consequences of love..etc...good morals in that story...

i LOVE the movie
whats eating gilbert grape
it stars johnny depp and leo dicaprio
it is a very very good movie and leo plays his part perfectly
it is a touching movie about gilbert grape who has to support his family (an huge mother and a metally retarded brother) the end will bring tears to your eyes
i strongly suggest this movie if you like movies that have a point and a moral
a great movie i give it a 10

Well if you like comedy then Fun With Dick & Jane is really good.
But for a thought provoking drama: Constant Gardner or Hotel Rwanda are good.

Magnolia, Crash, Everything is Eliminated. No blood, no guts, no superheroes. Just wonderful plot lines, amazing/unusual characters, and uplifting endings.

I love "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou." Or, for something even more obscure, try "The Milargo Beanfield War."
