with "last licks"? "qualifiers"; ameture baseball, NO fans in the stands. and if you KNOW, what percentage of times does the team that bats 1st win when they score in the 1st inning? what percentage of times does the home team win when they have to bat in the bottom of the ninth?

My guess would be 75% visiting team scores in the first wins and less than 50% on the last at bat

In early baseball the teams tossed a coin. In New York the winner chose last. In New England the winner chose first. In the 1890's some late season games were decided in the last at bat. Some complained that the coin toss had decided who won the pennant. Visitors bat first resulted.

the team that bats second because if they are ahead in the after the end of the top of the ninth inning then the game is over and they have won without having to come up and hit again in the bottom of the ninth.

The team with the most points will always win.. It would be up to chance, to say that the team that scores first will always win.. Don't try to solve it like that, Take a look at the players, The picture, (umm bad spelling),, whos got the better stats as a team overall.

Are you talking about major league or ALL baseball? Personally, I believe the better team will win, no matter whether they bat first or second.

That's a really mean look on your avatar, gives the whole question kind of a sinister spin.
How about that reds win over the indians, eh?
Cheers!
