Shay Lee isn't bad for a girl. But I would never name my baby boy Shames.

Shames is not the name to grow up with. Shay Lee sounds better. What ever happened to the Old fashioned names like Ann, and Julie?

Maybe Dolton for a boy, I personally dont like shames... Maybe Shay Leigh, I like that spelling better.

Is that Shames like pronounced Shame-us? I actually competed against a guy named Shamus at a clogging competition a few years back. Seemingly cool guy (only got to talk to him for a second), fine Irish name, but I can't say I'd give it to my kid, unless I wanted to sentence them to a lifetime of "No, that's S-H-A-M-E-S. No, it's spelled like shame, but that's not how you say it. Yes, I'm sure. Yes, it's S-H-A-M-E-S."

I also used to dance with a girl named Chali - pronounced Shay Lee. I always thought that was very cool and original, but her's was also one name on purpose. WIth Shay, I'd be worried that the kid would get a life of "So what's it short for?"

But the girl name Shay is nice.

Shay is nice for a girl or a boy. Shames is a bad idea-- it's an unfortunately word and he would be ashamed to have as a name.

Shane is a nice choice, as is Sean. Seamus (pronouced shaymus) is a nice alternative, won't be too unfamilar (because of the Harry Potter character, Seamus Finnegan) and can have the nickname Sean if he wishes.

I love the boys name, but I'd go with the traditional spelling of Seamus. (I assume the name is pronounced SHAY-mus, right?) Don't like Dolton though...reminds me of dolt (another word for idiot). Shay Lee is nice. :)
