I am a man of faith, I believe homosexuality is a sin. I believe it is perverted and disgusting. However, I also believe that whether you are homosexual or straight, you are still a sinner- and still forgiven. God loves everyone the same, we are all his children- the homosexuals are just as much sinners as I am, and I am no better than they. So, how does this translate to hatred?

Please people, remember the meaning of "hatred." as a follower of Christ, I am commanded to love others as Christ loves us. I believe God loves the homosexuals as much as he loves me, therefore...

how is this HATRED?????

All right, some of you clearly aren't reading my entire post. I will try to put it as simply as possible, then I'm done:

I am a sinner, gays are sinners, we are all born sinners. AR got it right, sin in general is perverted and disgusting, which my opinion- everyone is entitled to their own. I have known many gays, have been good friends with some, I recognize that they are normal people like everyone else. I have also been friends with people who fornicate- another thing I believe is a sin, and just because they do things I disagree with, doesn't mean I hate them. I have friends who are liberals (I am obviously a conservative) but I don't think less of them because they are liberal, I simply disagree with them peacefully, and respect them for having their own opinion. If you believe homosexuality is okay, I have no problem with you. I have never walked up to a gay and said "repent for your sins" I simply show them love and kindness, the way I would with anyone else.

Actually it should not translate to hatred at all. You are absolutely correct in all your assumptions. However if you read in Paul's Letter he tells the Church how to deal with individuals which refuse to stop sinning. In my personal opinion a person that is an active homosexual is out of fellowship with God. It would be like a "hitman" going to church and asking forgiveness but refusing to give up being a "hitman".

I am not sure which book it is in the New Testament, but I would challenge you to study the process further for yourself. The Church is amazingly forgiving of all types of behaviors, as is God. But the behaviors should not be allowed to go on indefinitely.

Thank you for sharing your views. Although I disagree with you, you have made the most sense of your feelings and beliefs about homosexuals of just about any conservative I have seen on here.

The major problem I have always had with conservatives against homosexuality is that most of them aren't against and willfully participate in heterosexual fornication, which as you mentioned is also considered a sin. They will be involved in sexual relationships with the opposite sex, yet point their fingers at homosexuals and scream, "Sinners!" In order to debate that issue, I have seen them compare homosexuality to pedophilia, which is ridiculous. Children are not consenting adults. People engaging in consensual sex is not comparable to a man molesting an 8-year old. Due to various studies I have read and other research, I personally believe that homosexuals are born that way; so for them, their sexuality is natural. I have imagined being brought into a world in which homosexuality is the norm. Would I become a homosexual in order to satisfy the masses? No. So, I don't think it's right for us to hate them or discriminate against them for what is their normal way of life. But that is just my opinion. I respect others that disagree when they put forth a well thought-out argument.

Unfortunately, a lot of conservatives on this forum claim to be Christian as they spout their hate. That is what leads to some of the more out-of-hand arguments on here. I'm not sure what type of churches or religious organizations they are affiliated with, but they must be some pretty extremist sects of Christianity, probably the type that will bomb abortion clinics and commit hate crimes "in the name of God." Those that think it is their God-given assignment to cleanse the world of what they consider "perversions of humanity." I've also seen a lot of Christians on here disapprove of what they are saying. If these folks belong to what I consider a normal church, I find it hard to believe their particular reverend or religious leader would appreciate some of the more colorful language they have used. I'm not sure where such hatred comes from, but then again I don't understand members of the Ku Klux Klan either. Some people seem to thrive off hate. It doesn't really matter who the group is ... it's like they short circuit when someone doesn't fit the mold of what they think a person should be.

While you claim to be no better than they, do you call yourself perverted and disgusting? You are spreading hatred and belief in man-made fables that pose as the saving grace while maintaining important, shallow ideals.

Even Hitler didn't think he was doing anything but God's will. Most people don't see what they do as wrong - otherwise, they wouldn't do it. Whether you are compassionate enough to abandon ignorance or not, right now you are promoting hate and prejudice.

And, yes to someone who suggested that some people may want it to be within God's grace. Why? Because there's nothing inherently wrong with it. It's about excitement and love and anticipation and creativity for people who are attracted to other people of the same gender. There's nothing sinful about that in my mind.

You are ignoring biology. You are ignoring compassion. I wish you luck on your journeys.

PS: To the post below... Comparing homosexuality to being 'hitmen' is another example of where believers are hateful. And, the fact that you are quoting books that were manipulated from the beginning and obvious works of fiction is another example of the lack of education and wisdom that these people posess.

I do not consider this hatred. If someone is playing in the road, is it hatred for me to tell them it is wrong? No. It would be disgusting apathy for me to stand there and watch them play in the road as a big truck came along. And, I will take this analagy even further. Let's say I was playing in the road (we are all sinners) and my friend, son, brother, etc., came along and started playing in the road with me, is it hatred to tell them not to play in the road with me? There is a big misconception in society today as to what constitutes a hypocrite. A hypocrite is not someone who tells you not to do something they are doing because it is bad for them. If this were true, no parent, grandparent, sibling, or anyone for that matter, could ever give advise for something they are struggling with too. A hypocrite is someone who hides what they are doing or who they are and then looks down on someone else for the same thing. Homosexuality is wrong...it is a sin. I have a problem with drinking...drinking is a sin. I have a problem with pornography...pornography is a sin. So there, go ahead and tell me I have hatred. I guess I hate myself then...but at least I can recognize my own sin, I'm not hypocrite, and I can see clearly to tell someone else when they need to get out of the road.

There are many "religious people" that say they love God and then they treat homosexuals badly, however, I see a great balance in your attitude. I think the problem comes in when you say that homosexuality is a sin. Homosexuals don't want to admit that same sex relationships are wrong even though it is plainly spelled out in the bible. We all struggle with sin. Some christians want to pretend that they don't struggle with sin. They are hypocrites because EVERY christian is tempted to sin. Whether it's lying, stealing, adultery, homosexuality, hatred, it's all the same...............sin and we all have a daily battle with it. That's why we need God. He is the only one that can set us free from all sin. This is what Jesus said, "Let him without sin cast the first stone." That means if you are perfect, then you can judge others. I never met anyone perfect yet. Christians, follow in Jesus footsteps.........Jesus spent time with the taxpayers, prostitutes and drunks. Why? Because He loved them unconditionally. Yet , He loved them enough to tell them how to live.

I don't think that classifying homosexuality as disgusting counts as hatred. I consider many things as disgusting, including peanut butter, television news, and a good deal of popular music. But this doesn't mean I hate such things.

What you describe, if it is what you truly feel, is not hatred, and I don't see why you shouldn't be free to feel that way. Everyone has a right to their own religion and own belief system. You don't have to be a part of everyone's lifestyle -- however, each person should be free to live and believe as he or she feels fit without persecution and without forcing their own views upon others.

It is not an issue of Liberal, Conservative, Democrat, or Republican. Politicians are using the issue as a tool.

It is an issue of respect and of human decency. It is as wrong for people to classify all religious people as feeling hatred toward homosexuals as it is for all religious people to classify all non-religious people as wanting to dissolve tradition.

It's hatred because you relate the act of having sex with a person of the same sex as wrong. You connect it with "sin", just as you connect murder with sin. This is not loving your fellow mankind, this is preaching hatred. Looking down upon others (that includes believing that they have a dirty lifestyle) is prejudging them from who they are inside. You think EVERYONE is a sinner? Then why should anyone be allowed to get married? You should protest ALL marriages if the people who are marrying are sinners; if not then let gay people marry - since they're supposedly sinner just like everyone else.

Sorry, you've got it wrong mate. ^_^

It is only hatred when you deny someone something that is granted to everyone else, basic human dignity. Does that mean they deserve to get married? Not necessarily, that is defined by society not religion. But if they are denied the ability to see their partners in hospitals, denied worker benefits for their significant others and having families then perhaps yes.

When you take your religious beliefs to a violent level lynching, hate speech, murders, beatings then it is considered hate. Gay folks have the same desires as everyone else, to go to work, work a solid 8 hours, come home, suffer through muddled conversation with their spouse, spend a few hours at the gym or in front of the TV and go to bed. If they are able to exist as we do, then they will be just as miserable in life as the rest of us.

So as long as you do not harbor any disgust in a violent way towards them, that it is not hate. I hope that helped.

The first two sentences say alot about you. You contradicted this whole piece of **** question* when you began your tirade on how homosexuality is as bad as rape and justifies being damned to the 9th level of Hell (Dante, the Divine Comedies). I believe they should be able to get married. They're human, after all. Or at least they look human enough, they could probably fool Aryans like Mr. Truthless and Menifeedave. But that's just me being a dumb Liberal again, doing that accepting thing again.

*I called it a piece of **** because it has nothing to do with your mentallity. You know, a typical Aryan Conservative superiority complex.

Hypocracy + ignorance + intolerence = hatred!

When discussing homosexuality majority adopt/hide behind religions, churches and faith. What about 'sins' from heterosexual community like cohabitation, abortion, sex before marriage, condoms, extra-marital affairs, child abuse and etc? Why not address these issues as 'sins' and condemn majority instead minority? Why not address issues like priests molested young children at the Church? Peverted or blind to see?
At the end we are all the same, nobody perfect. Why promote biasness, injustice, prejudice and double-standard?
I want my children and grandchildren to be able to see the world ,understand, tolerate and realize that there are so many people with different sizes, shape, colors, preferences, culture, background and subcultures.

Ps: Man of faith wouldnt name-call and diss others to begin with!

I think that your judgment of homosexuals being disgusting and perverted turned your statement into a hateful one. If you truly believe that we are sinners because we are homosexuals then you are judging us, but if you are calling us sinners because we are human then are you saying that you are the same as you refer to homosexuals, disgusting and perverted people? My second question to you is, what makes homosexuals disgusting and perverted?
