A web server is a service you pay for (usually). There are two main parts to a website. The domain name, then the web server.

The domain name must be registered through a registrar, like www.godaddy.com, yahoo domains, or www.networksolutions.com, etc... This establishes your domain name.

Web Servers. These vary in price and services to a great degree, like some cost $4 to $15 a month paid annually, while some servers cost $100/month or more. You're paying for bundled services like bandwidth (amount of traffic), file space, & application softwares. All of your files you want to share are uploaded here, and your webserver works together with your registered domain name.

Answer: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&defl=en&q=define:Web+server&sa=X&oi=glossary_definition&ct=title

If you need to know the meanings of other terms or acronym's, sorry Yahoo, I use Google.

Type "Define:CPU" for example. It will lead straight to many dictionary's telling you its the Central Processing Unit
