Man, pre-Napoleon, they were doing pretty good (16 victories, 1 loss). Unfortunately, it's all been downhill from there (1 victory, 8 losses). They used to be real powerhouses though. Hope this helps!

It matters if you count the French Revolution of around 1790 or not. I'm pretty sure Charlemagne did a Crusade or two. Germany defeated them until the Allies came in WWII and they lost the French and Indian War, but William or Normandy beat up English people in 1066. Otherwise, the French haven't had much luck.

(palmface) Napoleon won some campaigns, and that Hundred year thing with Joan. Whoops.

I think a better question is how many wars have they lost.

Ended up losing all the Land Napoleon won by 1815.

Were invaded by the Prussians in the Franco-Prussian War in 1870

France was were the western front was in World War One...unable to push the Germans out of their country

France was beaten in a few weeks by the Nazi Blitzkrieg in 1940

France was kicked out of Franch Indochina (Vietnam) in the 1950s only to be replaced by the US (who were also kicked out)

They lost Algeria in the 1960s. 1962 to be exact.

Overall I'd say they have a pretty good losing streak going on since the early 19th century.

They beat the English in the Hundred Years War, they won several campaigns under Napoleon, and they were part of the victorious Allies in WWI. They also contributed to the colonies' victory in the American Revolution.

Just a minute, I have them listed on a paper match. Oops, it burned, oh well, no big loss.

Seriously, when the French Foreign Legion is proud of never having won a battle, how many do you think? They can't even stop a bunch of kids from burning cars twenty night is a row.

SAD, really SAD.
