Read all the answers people are giving you. You can some times tell if material is copyrighted by looking for a circle with a R inside it. This is a copyright sign.

If it doesn't say it's free or distributed under Creative Commons license, it's copyrighted.

When the copyright sign/symbol is listed somewhere on their site (thus, indicating that it is copyrighted).

look at the small print at the bottom of the web page..there is always small print everywhere.
