Google used to run the searches for yahoo before it decided to break away. :) If you remember a long while ago, Yahoo searches used to be "powered by Google"

They are both affiliated by by being government who.res. The American government is not useful or a servant to the public which it deceptively pretends to serve. It is a separate entity from the whole of the population which it reigns over. The government strips people of at least 30-55% of there personal hard earned money in taxes and then uses the money to strip other independent countries of their wealth, with war, against the American populations wishes. The American government spys on it's citizens and breaks all of the constitutional rights set as law in America's beginning as a country. Yahoo and google are international greedy anacondas swallowing the rights of every day decent people and playing cards to take over the world in a dictatorship, via international economical rape of the earth and it's people. They are invested in controlling all of the world's natural resources and all of the free thoughts expressed through the internet which is heavily monitored for free thinkers and any one who is a possible threat to being anything other than a consumer, anyone who may be dedicated to honest hard work and anyone who appreciates their freedom.

There used to be links between the two companies. I'm a longtime Yahoo user and remember seeing google logo on Yahoo pages.
February 19, 2004: Yahoo! drops Google-powered results, launching its own web-crawling algorithm and using its own site index after it had used Google's results for a long time.

Yahoo! used to be a major shareholder of Google, later reportedly selling its shares, or at least some of its shares, when the price hit the right level.
According to some newspapers, Google also pays Yahoo! for variety of patents it has, including a patent on displaying search ad related to search results, which Yahoo! got through Overture acquisition.

There are a few good questions you bring up which I have pulled out from above and will try my best to answer them to the best of my ability. 1) Are there any legitimate affiliate programs ? Yes and it would be best to create one from your website and to get your visitors to use your affiliate service and sell the product you offer. Simply just taking others products and selling them online within a squeeze page does not simply work as its all hyped to be. Search engines will crack down on these pages which don't bring any value to the "conversation" on the internet. (Remember valuable content will bring traffic) 2) how can I be sure I don't get cheated ? The terms of service may have to be read carefully from affiliate sites in order to determine if the purchase goes through accounts on their website instead of directly being paid out by the author of the product. (its like elance they are the middle man). 3) where can I create a simple sales page ? If you don't know basic HTML there could be simple programs which can generate these pages, but it's not advisable to use any sort of automated program to create them as major search engines may have filters to filter out certain tags/credits mentioned on the page, thus pulling your squeeze page from their index. 4) how to gain genuine unique vistors to your page (PPC any good?) Valuable content is always going to be king. Having content which is being searched for will rake in visitors. You need to research white hat seo techniques. Just simply having a page online and submitting it to a few search engines doesn't mean you will get tens or even hundreds of visitors a day.
