It's where they get their power from. If it wasn't for the people they make dependent on the government, they wouldn't have supporters.

Which liberals do you know who have a love affair with entitlements? I sure don't know any. What entitlements are having a love affair with liberals?
I know a lot of conservatives who would never make a sweeping statement like that because they are not stupid. It seems that anyone who would suggest that a liberal would have a love affair with an entitlement just missed the fact that some liberals, Bill Clinton included, saves his love affairs for little fat girls.

Turn off the talk radio and quit logging onto Newsmax. None of you "cons" know what you are talking about. Bush has expanded the Federal Government more than anyone else since LBJ. He lied about the cost of his senior prescription drug program which has an $8 TRILLION unfunded liability. That's an entitlement program if there ever was one and if we HAD to do it why couldn't we buy the drugs with a bulk discount like we already do for our veterans? And for that matter WHY we are stopping the importation of prescription drugs from Canada or overseas (quite often American-made drugs in American made bottles). Bush can't stop 12 million illegals form swarming our border and he won't leave his phony ranch when he is told AL Qaeda wants to fly airliners into skyscrapers but by gum, Grandma wants to save
fifty bucks a month on her prescription and Bush leaps into action to make sure that can't happen.
Next time one of you narrow-minded sheep post something, do a little research yourself instead of regurgitating what you hear on Sean Hannity.

They feel like they are doing good by having government wield its open checkbook rather than fostering self-reliance for those who can.
Orlando57,
It is obvious that you have never researched who pays the taxes that make all of your entitlements possible. The so-called "working class" pays a small percentage of personal income taxes although they are the overwhelming majority in number. It's not even close.
Top 1% earners pay 35% of personal federal income taxes
Top 5% pay over 55% of the personal federal income taxes.
Check your figures Libs. Amazing how the facts so often elude you.

Because the liberals are really going for socialism and the distribution of wealth. The concept of democracy is (ironically) foreign to democrats; if Reagan hadn't won the Cold War we'd all have governement jobs at government owned factories courtesy of our liberal democrats.
Its enough to make you sick... or wish you were Canadian...
No wait... its not that bad... besides they are socialists anyway.

simple we see the poor as humans not slaves to the machine that sells more guns than any other country on earth ,, we dont have a trust fund to save our old folks from dieing in substandard rest homes ,,and we dont have a magic wand for food for children that live in houses where both parents work for 5,25 an hour at two jobs and have too choose between food or meds for the child ,,,so hate us for wanting to spend some of the taxes we produce for the folks living in the real america,, the one below 300,000 dollars a year ,,,and anyone supporting republicans that makes less than that,, is poisoning their own well ,,as they age and have to support their parents and their kids they will be as poor as me

It's like chess, where one opponent makes completely random moves on impulse and the other sits there for a few minutes while the oppositon freaks out and calls his opponent a waffle.

I do believe it is the conservatives that are continually legislating welfare provisions for corporations. Name a single industry under George W. that hasn't received increased subsidies. How is corporate welfare okay but individual welfare is not? In your "sink or swim" daydream, shouldn't corporations have to make it on their own as well?

Because it allows to foster dependency among the people who receive the benefit. Then they can use that to get the recipients to vote for them so they'll protect the program. Basically, the use your money and mine to buy the votes.
