there seems to be a disconnect between what Bush is saying and what is really happening out there . The middle class jobs ( labor ) are disappearing and wages are staying the same or going down ( all that cheap labor , that no one will do ) . I f you look closely , you'll see that every thing that you buy is going up and up . Don't they call that inflation ?? What do you think ?

Real wages actually started stagnating around 1973. They have actually declined 2.1% since 2001. Add to this the cost of gas and skyrocketing medical insurance and you are looking at the middle class getting squeezed. Manufacturing has gone overseas and jobs that once paid a living wage are being taken over by illegal immigrants. I personally saw it happen in the pizza business but now it's happening in construction, janitorial duties, landscaping, and the whole food service industry.

Now on top of this frchuck mentions how great Wal-Mart is. Time was you bought your paint at a paint store on Main Street from a guy who knew paint, made ten or eleven bucks an hour, and kept his money in the community. Now that paint store owner has been replaced by a pimply-faced teenager at Wal-Mart who can't operate a cash register properly, doesn't know paint, and doesn't get paid enough to care.

The profits from that Wal-Mart go in the pockets of President Bush's fat cat friends, because once you spend a third of your paycheck on gas to drive to a job that can't afford to give you medical insurance anymore you don't have extra money to throw in your retirement plan.

The Bushies will say Bush cut taxes so we all have extra money. Yeah, I saved five dollars this year, and most of those insulting 3D Farms for bringing this up got less back than I did. Talk radio is full of these mooks in the 10% bracket calling in from some trailer park yammering about how unfair the estate tax is.

The most important issue facing the American people isn't the War in Iraq, or the War on Terror, or illegal immigration (by itself). It's how we're all getting f*cked in the a*s by the upper one percent.

But take solace. At least gays can't get married. That's what frchuck will tell you, anyway.

Sure there are more jobs. Jobs at McDonalds, working a cash register at Wallyworld, and other menial things. But the big middle class jobs are going away. So lets blame it on the government right... As some other user replied lets go vote in the liberals in 2008 ... right... Well that is all wrong. It is not about what political party is in power in Washington, and I think it has been proven again and again that the government doesn't fix things very well. I have my own business, so I see alot of this stuff, and the worlds worst thing you can hear is "I'm from the government, and I am here to help".
But anyway, the problem with the decline in the "GOOD" jobs is simple. YOU are to blame. Take a look at the labels on your clothes, your shoes, the gizmo's that you buy at Wallymart.. for that matter read the origin labels at Wallymart. China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Korea, China, China China etc. You the people of America are slowly bleeding yourselves to death by buying products that are made oversea's. Why are you doing this.. well I can buy that stuff much cheaper. How do they make it cheaper? Near slave labor at wages you or I would never think of working for. So the rich owners of these companies, and the importers (rich conglomerates like Wallyworld) are making the money, no US citizen is employed in the manufacture of the goods, so the money goes oversea's, where it stays because they don't want to buy stuff from us. We've gone from a Country that made the best products in the world to a Country that has the cheapest junk in the world. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer. The rich buy the politicians and the rest of us are screwed. And it is ALL YOUR FAULT !!!

Then there are those that think they are doing the right thing by buying an "American" auto. Like a Ford or Chevy. Where are those companies building plants to produce our American auto's? Yea, Mexico and Canada... pretty soon I am sure they will start building them in China. The rich getting richer while we don't have jobs because the plants are closing down over here. The rich are Greedy, and the poor (what used to be the middle class) are getting... you guessed it, poorer. Want to buy an American made car? Look to our Japanese buddies Toyota and Honda these days. Wow what a surprise huh.

And then, there are the Unions. Those venerable institutions that once saved the American worker and are now protecting a bunch of lazy slobs. I see examples of this almost every day... Whats left of the big union job workers coming in and actually bragging about sleeping at their Union jobs while getting $15 $20 and $25 bucks an HOUR to sleep. When they are off work they fish or play golf etc.. then go back to "work" and nap again. Our production is down, our quality is down, the companies shut down and move their operations oversea's. And the poor get poorer. And it is YOUR FAULT.

And don't think that the big owners and white collar employee's of these same union worker companies are not to blame as well. Million dollar bonuses for doing what they are supposed to be doing anyway and draw a hefty salery for doing in the first place.

So Don't blame Bush, don't blame the Democrats, don't blame the Republicans for our current troubles, you should...

Blame your own dumb self!

Now if you don't agree with what I've said above, you should open your eyes and start learning what is actually going on around you. Because way to many of U.S. have become dependent on the great big welfare titty that is the government.

Inflation is not a sign of economic weakness. It happens. Period. 5.4 million jobs have been created since august 2003, about 1.85 million jobs over the past 12 months, and about 121,000 last month alone. The unemployment rate is 4.6 percent, lower than the average of the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. The minimum wage isn't going up for the most part, but it isn't going down, either. The budget deficit is on track to be halved by 2009, when Bush leaves office. Bottom line, the economy is doing pretty well, all things considered.

There are alot of jobs, in the service industry ( and a perosn who is unemployed may have to not be so picky. There should be no job a perosn would not do, if they had to support thier family.

And yes the economy is going great, business are making more money than ever, Walmart for example, even Kmart and Sears. many people are starting new buinesses more than ever.

And yes wages are going down in many areas, as skilled jobs are moved overseas and as some areas are being over filled with new people

don't get me going on wall-mart its a joke ,they are a big part of why wages are low and they put all the mom and pop businesses out of business and the sad part is both sides let it happen. people need college educations .even if it is a community college. this is not the 1960s where a guy could drive a milk truck and support a household. don't expect your government to supply the job.get off your duff and earn it .my late parents were big time democrats and my dad owned a business and had money! so you think i was in! no! it did not work that way, i went in the army and got out and used the GI bill to help with college and i worked all the way through college.and I feel just as confidant now as i did twenty years ago. thanks mom and dad.

We have our lowest unemploment rate in our state. The average hourly salary rose to $16.70. That seems low but compared to the miniumum required it is pretty good.
No it is not inflation, although prices have increased 4.5% (includes gas increases) & income has risen 3.9%. A slight difference for 1st six months of year. Easy turn around. The UK had a 2.6% increase & a 3.6% increase in wages, & Canada had a 2.8% inrease in goods & 3.7% raise in salaries.

We could show a great surplus if like Canada we counted the federal & local pension plans, & divided the deficit among the different states like they do the provinces.

There are lots of low wage jobs and employers are having trouble filling them. Middle class jobs are another story. Benefits like retirement and health care are being slashed and many jobs are being exported or are being filled with H-1B or other temporary workers.

Take a look at what you Labor Department Secretary thinks is important.

I think your nuts. The economy is better than it has been in a while. Inflation seems to be suprisingly low if you take in to consideration how much the price of gas has gone up.

Maybe someone's not looking. Jobs don't flock to you. And, have you learned any special, technical skills in the last 5 years?

The labor statistics don't lie. Different areas have different job markets.

I think someone told us about this if we voted Republican. Well we got the Republican and you should not be so surprised that we have these other problems. Your only recourse is to take advantage of your right to vote in 2008 and pray that the same mistake is not repeated. It has cost us far too much already.
